TILL DEATH DO US PART
The years from 2000 to 2014 were the hardest of my life. My husband’s health was failing. He became increasingly unable to care for himself. I became his caregiver — the toughest job I ever had. I felt crushed under the weight of his illness. This painting is of a painful marriage. I found that those who are happily married look at this painting and see only rings — asking “Why did you make the gold ring crooked?” If this painting ever gets displayed in a museum I will labeled it “No explanation necessary for those who are or who have been there.”
